One Layer Wednesday

What a week!  Entering all these challenges has really been exciting and I think I may just have to do this again next week.  While looking for new challenges I continue to find many that I want to take part in and make me do things I wouldn't otherwise try.  The challenge I've chosen for today looks very easy.  Not so!  While most card challenges suggest using many different layers which may include embellishments, ribbons and papers that have been punched and pierced, this one was the complete opposite.
I found the challenge on a blog which is about Simplicity.  This is definately one worth checking out.  Not only do the challenges make you think, the blog itself is inspiring and very refreshing to say the least.

Here are the rules of the challenge directly from the author.

OLW48 Rules
1. A one-layer card is defined as a single layer of cardstock folded in half. No other layers allowed.

2. Make a sympathy card that uses an image other than trees or flowers. Remember to keep embellishments to a minimum.

3. Upload your card online and link back to it using the InLinkz button on the sidebar of Simplicity.

4. The most important rule of all: HAVE FUN!

As soon as I saw this challenge I knew I had to enter.   Here is my entry.

The Sentiment - For Some Moments In Life There Are No Words

I used Microsoft Word to set up the sentiment in the font and placement I wanted for the card and then printed it in the desired colour to match the card.  I've used a stamp from Hampton Art and the sentiment is from the book, The Ultimate Guide to the Perfect Cards - 2nd Edition.
I was very pleased with how the card turned out and I think I have the confidence now to make a card for such a sensitive and difficult time.

I appreciate all who visit, thank you so much.   I enjoy reading each and every wonderful comment left as well.
Have a great day!
Always remember to smile....it's contagious!

  1. Oh yes! The buterfly is so perfect if you can't use flowers and trees on a sympathy card - your card is just gorgeous! Di x

  6. A perfect sympathy card...that sentiment is ideal and I'd love to have it as a stamp! It says what I feel each time I make a sympathy card. Thank you for making this and sharing it!
