Aussie Contest - Make "it" Crafty Blog

One of the Aussie blogs I just found and have fallen in love with is running this contest.  I just had to share it with you because I think it would be a blast to see your answers and have some fun too.  Lets face it....we can always use a good laugh, right?  So let me explain what the contest is about.

The publisher of the blog has picked out some words and phrases to share.  The object of this contest is to use your own imagination and come up with a dictionary explanation as to what you think the word or phrase means.  You can google the real definition to get more creative but she felt it would be funnier to make up your own definition first and then google it.  They are giving away prizes too!

I am quoting this from the Make "it" Crafty blog and the publisher of this contest.  I believe this will give you an idea of what to do and help you get going.

"Instead of saying “Lipstick’ we say ‘Lippy’, instead of saying “Barbecue”, we’ll throw it on the “Barbie”! Not only do we like to shorten words, our pioneers (from shearers, drovers and swagman many years ago)  have coined some ridiculously funny and most often very colourful phrases and words, many of which are still in use today!"

So here are the words and phrases to put your own definition to.
  1. You little Ripper
  2. Well I’ll be buggered!
  3. Crikey
  4. Fair dinkum
  5. On a good wicket
  6. Make a proper galah of yourself
  7. She’ll be apples
  8. Ridgie Didge
  9. Buggerlugs
  10. Give it a burl
  11. Bob’s yer uncle
  12. Go like the clappers
  13. Ningnong
  14. Good Onya!
  15. Rough end of the stick

Here is the site.  You must stop by and have a look and join in the fun.  All the information is provided on the site and even a link that you can link to - to give your definitions.
