Peppermint Swirls....

....made it to my card today!

When looking up Peppermint Swirls, I did come across some really neat things like cheesecakes, cookies, candies, ice cream and even white chocolate peppermint swirl bark...Mmmmm.  Sadly though, my project today doesn't contain anything edible but it was just as much fun to make as a recipe.  Less fattening too!

The challenge over at Winter Wonderland is looking for a clean and simple card with minimal embellishments.  I tried stamping the snowman directly on a clean white card but I felt it needed something more.  I embossed white cardstock with the Sizzix Peppermint Swirls and showed only a bit of the embossing above and below the image.  I matted the Spellbinders Blossoms Die Cut which is what Bah Humbug is looking for this week for their challenge.

It was a bit difficult to see the detail on the snowman so I took a close up shot.  I added Crystal effects to the hat, arms and buttons and added Diamond Sugar Dust to the body.  The scarf and ribbon on the hat were coloured using a atyou Spica Glitter Marker #03 Red.  The sentiment is from Northwood Rubber Stamps and the snowman image is from Inkadinkado.

I'm entering my card in both challenges below,

Bah Humbug - Die Cuts
Winter Wonderland - Clean and Simple Cards

Joy ......

It's crazy how fast these days, weeks and months are zooming by.  I just had a look at the calendar for this week and saw that the middle of September is on Thursday!  Are you kidding me?

Yesterday I overheard someone saying that we'll be having a warmer than usual Fall and Winter.  Won't that be nice after last years winter being so bitterly cold (brrrrr).  I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!  I only hope we don't pay for it come Springtime.

AND.....speaking of Winter (here's where I scare all those "not ready for Christmas" people away),  I have gone and made another Christmas card.  (Yipee, look at me getting all so organized!)  I'm hoping to be good and ready for this Holiday Season .... with my Christmas cards that is.

Wanting to do a little embossing, I thought I might try to incorporate that with some of my ornament stamps ....here is what I came up with.

I was quite happy with the way this card turned out being a little hesitant on using black embossing powder for the ornaments.

I used a Stamp-a-ma-jig to place the ornaments where I wanted them which worked out really well.  It helped to place everything on the card - just so.

Here we have 4 different Poinsettia, leaves, holly and pine embellishments with a little rhinestone bling to finish it off.  Gotta have a little bling.

I'm entering this card into two challenges today,

CraftyHazelnut's Christmas Challenge - Swirls

Here is a list of items that I used.

Sparkles......

....Forum Challenge!

Here is the challenge this week over at Sparkles Forum Challenges.

"" PUNCH IT ""

There is not many cards that are made that don't have punch work on it some where, this could be punched border, corners, butterflies, as long as we see something punched that's good with us.

This challenge was perfect for my Shades of Blue and Green card.  I purchased some lovely K&Company flowers which was the inspiration behind my card.

A closer look at the layers

I was really pleased with the dimension and detail of this card after applying all the leaves and flowers.

For the "Punch It" part of my card, I used two Martha Stewart punches.  One, a border punch as you can see along the top of the dark blue textured cardstock and the second one, my favourite butterfly punch.  I hope you like it.

Paper - Stampin Up's Certainly Celery and Brocade Blue, DCWV Textured mat stack cardstock
Ink - Stampin Up's Brocade Blue
Stamp - Hero Arts for the sentiment
Accessories - Martha Stewart border and butterfly punches, Faux pearls, Cuttlebug embossing folder and K & Company Floral Grand Adhesions.

Another challenge I'm entering my card in is The Sisterhood of Crafters - Flower Power

It's A Sketch .....

...challenge over at Lili of the Valley. Pops has designed a sketch, it's challenge # 110 and here is what she came up with. Awesome sketch Pops!

[sketch%255B3%255D.jpg]

Having just received an order of gorgeous stamps from Lili of the Valley I thought it was a perfect challenge to enter. Lili of the Valley's next set of Christmas Stamps come out Tuesday Sept. 6th so watch for them.
Can't wait!

The stamp is "Make it Festive" by Lili of the Valley, it's just darling! I pulled out my Christmas designer papers from K & Company and decided which papers I wanted to use with this image. I cut a large circle using the standard large circles die from Spellbinders. I thought it would look nice to have the edge of the circle embossed as well so I embossed it using the tan mats. Memento Tuxedo Black ink was used to stamp the image. The colours on the image were matched to the colours of the designer papers using Copic markers. To finish the card I added K & Co. Poinsettia embellishments.

I'm also entering this card into the challenges
